Fully owned by Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. in Germany, Sennheiser Asia was formed in 1992 to oversee the entire Asian market and coordinate activities with distributors in Korea, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and the islands of Maldives and Mauritius.
Sennheiser Asia has been very active in promoting its products, acquiring a strong foothold in the region for all its business segments, which include music/theatre, broadcast, film/studio, consumer, conference, audiology, aviation and call centre. Its product range also encompasses other globally recognized brands such as L’Acoustic, Klein + Hummel and Neumann, enabling the company to compete as a total solutions provider.
Sennheiser Asia has received several awards for its contribution to the arts and charity. In 2003, Sennheiser Asia received the Patron of The Arts Award in recognition for its notable contribution made to the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in Singapore. Instituted in 1983, the Patron of The Arts Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have contributed over $30,000 in cash and kind to worthy causes. As a key player and supporter in the arts scene, the company once again received the award in 2004 for its generous contribution to the Old Parliament project.
Besides the Esplanade, there are also many other notable landmarks bearing Sennheiser’s brand name and products. Two examples are the Old Parliament House and the Asian Civilization Museum, which installed GuidePort in their exhibition premises. GuidePort is a wireless digital audio information system and tour guide that provides audio information in several languages. Using the system, visitors can choose their own route through the exhibition and the audio information provided will be relevant to the area they are in. Other prominent projects include the Hong Kong Disneyland, Hard Rock Café, Mercedes Centre Singapore and more.
Other than the professional audio market, Sennheiser Asia is also an active player in the consumer electronics market, with various marketing tie-ups and partnerships with leading consumer brands such as Nokia, Samsung, Singapore Airlines and Aseana Airlines. |
